Chinese Foreign Language

This course is designed for students are non-native speakers of Chinese. The learning objectives of this book are to encourage students to listen and speak more, pronounce correctly, and recognize Chinese Pinyin. Through games, nursery rhymes, activities, drawing, singing, and a relaxed classroom atmosphere, students will be encouraged to speak Chinese and achieve the set learning goals.

Kindergarten

This course is recommended for children ages 5-7. Their learning objectives are to practice listening, speaking, and correct pronunciation through hands-on games, drawing, and singing activities.

Chinese 1

This course includes learning how to say numbers and building basic Chinese vocabulary such as names of body parts, nursery rhymes, years, months, object sizes, and spatial location. Students will be able to say simple greetings, pleasantries, and introduce themselves.

Chinese 2

The students in this course will learn the origin and evolution of the Chinese characters, Chinese calendar, Spring Festival (New Year) and the story of Nian. Students will also hear stories about Chinese Zodiac based on 12 animals; learn fables, riddles, tongue twisters.

In this course, students will learn to recognize Chinese punctuations and radicals from texts that include various Chinese folklores and familiar American tradition.

Chinese Four

Students in this course will learn Chinese children’s stories and nursery rhymes, traditional Chinese holiday such as the Dragon Boat Festival, traditional Chinese cooking and how to make dumplings. Children will hear humorous stories, be introduced to the planets and stars.

Chinese 5

This course will include learning Chinese through fun folklores, short stories, poems and conversation. Students will learn about Chinese baseball teams, good eating habits, Chinese and American horticulture, and Western holidays (Christmas) celebrated in China.

Students in this course will be introduced to Chinese music and musical instruments, and the Great Wall of China. Students will learn Chinese desktop publishing, and other computer courses that can help improve their Chinese.

This course includes history of China, important Chinese inventions such as gunpowder, firework and paper, the Opium War, Chinese myths and folklores. Students will also learn about Chinese medicine and acupuncture, Chinese food and restaurant dining. Students will also begin preparation for SAT/AP Chinese.

Students in this course will learn about traditional Chinese sports, holidays, zodiac signs, poets and poems. Additional topics include western influence of Chinese words and characters, name brand merchandise, prices, and the art of haggling and price negotiations.

Simon Deng is a highly accomplished and passionate math student with a strong track record in Mathcounts competitions. He is a three-time Mathcounts Toledo Chapter Champion, a three-time Ohio State Qualifier, and a Mathcounts National Qualifier. In 8th grade, he earned a flawless victory in the State Countdown Round, demonstrating both deep mathematical understanding and quick problem-solving skills under pressure.Through this training program, Simon, a rising Junior in Perrysburg High School, hopes to inspire and support younger students (Grades 6-8) as they prepare for Mathcounts. His goal is to help students build confidence, master essential strategies, and unlock their full mathematical potential. He firmly believes that with the right guidance and mindset, every student can enjoy the challenge of competitive math.
